A Postcard from Riyadh
βNajdβ is inspired from the visual language of symmetry, rhythm and abstraction of the traditional Najdi architecture.
The central region of Saudi Arabia, Najd, is the birthplace of Riyadh and a wellspring of architectural heritage. Known for its distinctive geometric mud-brick architecture, Najdi buildings are often adorned with repetitive triangular motifs, carved colorful wooden doors, and intricately patterned panels.
The rug seeks to retain the architectural integrity of its source while translating the stoic order of Najdi patterning into a more emotional and expressive textile form. This blending of old and new mirrors Riyadβs own transformation, as a city balancing cultural preservation with modern design exploration.
